Trans Housing Initiative St. Louis (THISTL)

THISTL is a trans-led organization founded in 2022 that aims to tackle the systemic injustices that trans humans face in the housing sector. Please reach out to programs@thi-stl.org for more information. Services include: - [Rental/Financial assistance](https://thi-stl.org/assistance) for trans humans facing housing insecurity. Funding is limited. - Classes for trans and gender nonconforming adults, such as financial literacy, homebuyers education, and credit repair. Attendance is covered and participants receive a stipend upon completion. - Advocacy for trans humans facing discrimination in housing/shelter processes through the [TRANSforming Fair Housing in St. Louis](https://www.transforminghousingstl.org/) project - For shelter providers, THISTL offers in person trans competency trainings and the opportunity to vet that organizations policy's non-discrimination and equal access.

Gateway Housing First

"The mission of Gateway Housing First, Inc. is to provide safe, high-quality, affordable, supportive housing to individuals and families challenged by a wide range of disabilities, complex disorders and life situations who are often impacted by chronic homelessness, generational poverty, trauma and systemic racism. We own and develop permanent supportive housing units across St. Louis City and County, some of which has 24 hour behavioral health supports while others are more independent. We also administer a few rental assistance programs through the Continuum of Care. However all referrals for these programs must go through Coordinated Entry."

Saints Joachim & Ann Care Service

Housing Assistance, Children and Family Development, Food Pantry, Adopt-A-Family, Workforce Development, Disaster Relief. The Care Service is the largest comprehensive social support agency in the region (St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren Counties.) Our mission is “to serve those in crisis and to prevent homelessness and hunger.” We offer comprehensive case management and wrap around services that connect those in need with many community partners. Together, we work to stabilize and move them toward a state of sustainability. We have the ability to address homeless prevention issues with intensive assessments and case management by a highly trained staff. We are able advocate on behalf of families in need and provide hope and the necessary foundation for getting them back on the path Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and impact systemic change one family at a time. All of the Care Service programs are in place to help individuals and families combat the threat of homelessness, sickness, malnutrition and despair, so that they may work confidently towards sustainability and become productive citizens in our communities. The Care Service is able to assist clients in finding housing through services and activities, starting with the certification and intake process to identify the needs of each client. We also provide services that lead the household toward stability, such as with after-care planning, budgeting/credit repair, career counseling, food pantry, holiday packages, and any other services deemed critical for the household to become more self-reliant. These programs include Housing Assistance, Children and Family Development, Food Pantry, Street Outreach, and Adopt-A-Family at Christmas.
