"We provide a 24/7 hotline, emergency shelter, court & general advocacy, safety planning, economic empowerment, counseling, substance abuse advocacy, and resource education." __About:__ A non-profit agency reaching out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offering them hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. Offers a combination of support strategies, including outreach, residential services, educational programs, job training and placement, medical services, and mental health counseling. __Equal Access:__ Transgender & gender non-conforming residents are encouraged to stay on the side that they are most comfortable on, not their sex assigned at birth. Nonbinary clients are also encouraged to stay on the side they are most comfortable with, but there are not currently gender neutral placements. __Services:__ CHMO has two residential programs. Our emergency shelter and a long-term residential program (Transitional Living Program). All residents and community youth have access to Supportive Services. Through the Wellness Center, youth can access therapy services, psychiatry services, and wellness appointments. The Career Center helps youth further their education, obtain and maintain a job, and provides financial literacy courses. The Outreach team provides case management and assistance connecting youth to outside resources and organizations. Community hours are open to any youth on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30-1:30pm. Youth can access clothing, laundry facilities, showers, hygiene products, meals, information, referrals and crisis intervention.

Joachim and Ann Care Service is the largest social service provider for individuals, families, and children in the Tri-county area of St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren. KCAVP was an organization providing domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate crimes advocacy and education to the LGBTQIA+ community. KCAVP provides support and services to LGBTQIA+ (includes questioning) victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate violence in the region, with a home base in the Kansas City area and services throughout Missouri. It is currently the only LGBTQ-specific domestic violence or sexual assault services in Missouri. Nearly fifty percent of homeless youth in Kansas City are LGBTQ. We’re on a mission to change that. We are a LGBTQ-specific transitional and rapid re-housing program. We seek to address the core problems causing LGBTQ homelessness by providing a community first and housing plus approach. Transitional Housing Transitional housing is a short term housing program that is designed to best support specific segments of the homeless population, including working homeless people who are earning too little money to afford long-term housing. Rapid Re-Housing Rapid Re-housing is designed to serve those who could reasonably be approved for a lease, but are financially unable to afford the cost of living. Our program assist with those expenses. Lion House is the first program dedicated to serving specifically the LGBTQ community and as such we approach the problem from a different angle. The wrap around services provided by Our Spot KC and Lion House Program staff help equip LGBTQ people and their families with the tools and the knowledge necessary to reach their goals of stable and sustainable housing. Our program led by members of the community it serves and as such we have a unique understanding of identities, challenges and the culture of being an LGBTQ person in the Kansas City area. This resource is useful because it gives people a place to stay during the day, not just at night. Assistance Programs: - Air Conditioning Assistance: Air conditioning units are provided to Neighbors in Need during the hot summer months. - Bridges Program: The Bridges Program is an assistance program resource for Neighbors to move out of poverty. - Burial and Cremation: The Society of St. Vincent De Paul works with Calvary Cemetery to provide Christian burials for people and families who have no insurance or material means for a burial. - Car Purchase: The Society has created partnerships with various organizations to provide car purchases to help those in need to maintain reliable transportation. - Car Repair: The Society’s vehicle repair program will help pay repair costs for eligible and approved clients. - Disaster Relief: The Society partners with a variety of community partners such as the American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri to help victims access the resources they need in times of declared disasters. - Bed Program: Conferences can give a Neighbor in Need a voucher which may be redeemed for a complete bed. Pillows, sheet sets, and bed frames are included, too. - Prescription Drug Assistance: SVdP partners with Castia Rx to provide prescription drugs at no cost to those in need. - Thrift Stores: Families can find furniture for their home, clothing, bedding, household goods, books, toys and more. Often during home visits, our volunteers discover that a family may not have furniture to sit on, a kitchen table to eat on, or beds to sleep in. In these cases, a voucher is provided to the family, which they can redeem for specific goods in the stores. - Utility Assistance: SVdP of St. Louis responds to the critical need of utility assistance for our Neighbors in Need, helping neighbors meet the basic needs of a healthy, safe place to live. - Housing Assistance: Help can be provided with rent, mortgage payments, and for some, short/long-term housing needs.
